HEREFORD BOYS OUTDOOR LACROSSE SPRING 2010 REGISTRATION
Registration for the 2010 HZRPC Boys Lacrosse season will be open from November 15, 2009 until December 31, 2009. We are moving our walk-in registration date earlier this year to streamline our evaluation schedule and team alignments. Our walk-in registration will be held December 15, 2009, at the Hereford High School Gymnasium Lobby from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Registration cost for Spring 2010 is $120 ($75 for Spirit). Online registration requires a payment by Visa or Mastercard. If you do not wish to pay for registration by Visa or Mastercard, would prefer to pay by cash or check, you may still register without going to the walk-in registration. Please contact the Boys Registration Coordinator, Heather Loyd, at hgloyd@gmail.com or 410.472.0937 to make alternate payment arrangements.
Financial hardships are considered on a case-by-case basis. Written requests should be directed to both Heather Loyd at hgloyd@gmail.com and Richard Rosa at rrosa@easfootball.com.
You are not registered unless you receive a payment confirmation from SportZwave or the Registration Coordinator.
AGE ELIGIBILITY
Please Make Sure You Are Registering For The Correct Age Group. There Will Be No Refunds For Those Who Register For The Incorrect Age Group. Hereford Lacrosse Does Not Allow "Playing Up." There is specific program information at each level. After following the appropriate age group link, please read through your son's age group information before finalizing your registration.
The Hereford Lacrosse programs age eligibility differs slightly from MYLAs. This only affects the Tyker and Spirit age groups. The Hereford program has opted to have 5-6 year olds in Spirit and 7-8 year olds in Tyker. MYLA allows 6-year-olds to play in the Tyker level. Please see the Spirit section below for details. Participation by 6-year-olds at the Tyker level will be considered on a case-by-case basis and parents should contact the Tyker age group coordinator, Wayne Hudson (whudson@ecologicisgreen.com), and the Boys Commissioner, Ralph Lightner (rlightner@jfknott.com). Age group cutoff dates are as follows:
SPIRIT: Birthdates 9/1/2002 - 8/31/2004
TYKER: Birthdates 9/1/2000 - 8/31/2002
LIGHTNING: Birthdates 9/1/1998 - 8/31/2000
MIDGET: Birthdates 1/1/1997 - 8/31/1998
JUNIORS: Birthdates 1/1/1995 - 12/31/1996
UNIFORMS/EQUIPMENT
Except for the Spirit age group, all players are required to provide their own stick, mouthguard, and equipment (including helmet, pads, and gloves). Players should wear their Hereford Lacrosse outdoor uniform, which includes a jersey, shorts, and a pinny. If you need a uniform, please order through the uniform link at Sportzwave.
REFUNDS
Refunds are unavailable after the start of the season. Refund requests must be sent to Heather Loyd, Boys Registration Coordinator, at hgloyd@gmail.com, with final approval by the HZRPC Lacrosse Commissioner, Rich Rosa (rrosa@easfootball.com). Upon approval, a refund check will be issued through HZRPC and Hereford Lacrosse will retain a $30 processing fee ($10 for Clinic/Spirit).
PROGRAM JUMPING
HZRPC is a member of the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA). As part of their by-laws, multiple registrations between different recreational programs and recruiting players already participating in a program is strictly prohibited. If you have registered your child for Hereford Lacrosse and wish to change programs, you must obtain a release from the Hereford program stating that the player has not been recruited by their new program. Failing to obtain a release and playing for another program will result in your player being penalized.
ELIGIBILITY FOR "A" TEAMS
Players interested in trying out for the A team should indicate that on the registration form. The A team requires additional time commitment.
Because our mission is to foster the long-term development of players for the Hereford program, eligibility for "A" team tryouts requires the previous year's participation in the Hereford Lacrosse program (Spring 2009 and/or 2009 Indoor Lacrosse seasons). Families who have moved and are new to the area, or players seeking to waive the eligibility requirement because they live in the Hereford Zone but have participated in another recreation council, should contact the Commissioner, Rich Rosa (rrosa@easfootball.com), and submit a written request to the Hereford Lacrosse Board.
JUNIORS
If your son is trying out for a J.V. team this spring, you may still register him for the Hereford Juniors age group and receive a full refund if he makes his high school team. We anticipate that J.V. cuts will be made by March 5, 2010, but would prefer to have your son be registered and participate in evaluations, even if he does not ultimately participate in our program. This helps us tremendously with our evaluation schedule and team selection as it is much easier to delete a player's information than it is to get all of their information and evaluate them at the last minute. That being said, Juniors registration will remain open until J.V. cuts have been made, not the December 31st deadline.
SPIRIT
Spirit is an in-house instructional league for players with birthdays between 9/1/2003 and 8/31/2004 where coaches will teach fundamentals. This is a non-competitive, non-contact learning environment with once-weekly practices and games to reinforce the skills learned during practice. Hereford Lacrosse recommends two years of instruction for players at the spirit level. We will do our best to accomodate any registrants for this program and will leave registration open for this age group until March 31st.
COACHING
Hereford Lacrosse would like to continue to foster the development and training of coaches for our program. There are several training opportunities through the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and the U.S. Lacrosse Association over the next several months (level I and II training at the January convention in Baltimore). If you are interested in coaching or assisting, please consider participating in these clinics. Please contact the Boys Education and Training Coordinator, Mary Ann Reott (reottfamily@juno.com), for additional information.

Evaluations will start promptly at their scheduled time. Please arrive 15 to 30 minutes early so that your son can check-in and get equipment on. Your son should wear full equipment, including helmet with mouth guard, pads and gloves. A new Code of Conduct has been approved by Baltimore County Recreation and Parks and it must be signed before your child can step onto the lacrosse field for evaluations this season.
You will also receive an e-mail from your age group coordinator prior to your sons evaluations.
If you have additional registration questions, please contact Heather Loyd by e-mail at hgloyd@gmail.com or by phone at 410.472.0937. Thanks for your continued support in Hereford Boys Lacrosse!
